Pirata

D.O.B: 20/01/2017

Pirata is a very special boy. He’s described by the shelter as a “loveable bear”. He’s the calmest and most well-balanced dog at the shelter despite his very tough background.

Pirata has spent the last four years of his life in a pound. His owners abandoned him there when they no longer wanted and over the last four years, he’s watched other dogs come and go, being picked by families, while he was left behind. He got given the label “saddest dog in the pound” and everyone said he had simply lost the will to live. He barely left his kennel and almost never chose to go outside with the other dogs when he could. His eyes showed how sad he really was and he so desperately needed another chance at life.

Since arriving at the wonderful rescue we work with in Spain, Pirata is a completely different dog! His whole expression has changed, he is happy and loves being outside and running around with other dogs. He constantly asks for attention, even from strangers, and just adores human affectionate and company, which he has been deprived of for so long. He never ever misses an opportunity for a big fuss and it’s so clear how grateful he is. He forms very strong bonds with people and, despite his size, is a true lap dog!

Pirata could do with losing some weight because he didn’t get any exercise at the pound but it’s already starting to improve since he’s so much happier now. He loves going for walks but, unlike a lot of our dogs, doesn’t need a huge amount of exercise, he’s just happy to be out and about having a mooch!

Pirata is great with people, children, other dogs and even passed his cat test with flying colours. He could live in a home with or without another resident dog. He has a wonderful temperament and nobody can believe he was left in a pound for so long!
