Parchi
D.O.B: 24/12/2022
Lucas (previously Parchi) arrived in the UK from Spain at the end of June. He is a sweet and affectionate young boy, but despite his adopter doing everything possible, Lucas struggled with his confidence without a resident dog in the household.
Lucas is now in one of our wonderful foster homes, where he lives alongside another setter. With the help of his another dog, he has gained a great deal of confidence. At times, the world can still seem a bit scary to him when he’s in new situations, and he may retreat to his safe spaces when he needs reassurance. However, once he’s out on a walk, his worries seem to melt away.
His favourite adventures are anywhere with water – Lucas will happily splash and sit in every puddle or stream he comes across and loves swimming out when he’s on a longline. He also loves time in an enclosed field, where he can show off his agility and stamina.
Lucas is making great progress with walking on a lead and harness and now gets so excited to get his harness on now because he knows it means walkies! He is toilet trained, although this may regress slightly as he adjusts to a new home.
After working closely with both his adopter and foster home, we feel Lucas would thrive in a quiet household with a friendly resident dog who can guide him and provide the reassurance he needs. His forever home should allow him to move at his own pace, with patience, understanding, and no pressure, helping him to build confidence over time.
Lucas is living with a cat so, with careful introductions, he could do so again. He would be best suited to a home with adults or older children. He is very gentle with children, so although he would not suit a loud household, visiting children would be fine if they understand to be gentle around Lucas. He is currently based in Derbyshire but can travel for the right home.
