Oki

D.O.B: 25/04/2011
Oki was left tied to a vehicle by his hunter in the Basque Country at the grand age of 14 and is now in UK foster in Northumberland. Oki is one of the lucky ones who has been given the opportunity to find a home as often hunters get rid of the dogs by other means. He absolutely adores people despite not knowing much love in his life and is happiest by their side, greeting people with the waggiest tail. Being an older boy, he is happy to spend a lot of the day snoozing away and relaxing but he is still very active for his age and loves going for walks in the countryside or spending time in the garden. He’s soon got used to a home routine and gets excited at walk time, eager to get out and start his walk! Sadly, Oki hasn’t received much care in his life and he arrived very matted, so has had to have a lot of fur removed as well as some dental work. His sight isn’t perfect and he has lost some of his hearing due to his age but that doesn’t slow him down and he gets around very well. He loves his food, having arrived quite skinny and loves to be in the kitchen and adores his bedtime snack of yoghurt on a lickimat! Oki’s perfect home would be with somebody around most of the time, he’d love his family to either work from home or perhaps be retired. He is ok to be left for short periods once settled but much prefers to be with people, you’ll always have a best friend with Oki around. One of his favourite things is to roll on his back on a human bed, he just adores throwing himself around and having a good stretch and wiggle, not even minding if he falls off, he just gets straight back on! He’s even found a love for balls as well which is a real joy to watch. He travels well by car and is doing very well with his toilet training with only the occasional accident. He keeps up with the other dogs in his foster home on walks despite his age and doesn’t pull on his lead like younger setters, making him the ideal walking companion! Due to Oki’s age, we’d really like him to find a home as soon as possible so will accept a lower adoption fee to enable this. Oki has never lived with children before but is very gentle and friendly so could be suited to older children. He has seen cats on walks and has not shown any interest.
