Piki

Piki (from the word small in Spanish) is a young male setter with a bit of a different story!
Piki was born as one of 5 puppies in the litter, bred by a hunter in northern Spain. Devastatingly, when the first puppy was born, the poor mum didn’t know what on earth was going on and swiftly ate her first born. The hunter and his friend promptly stepped in to save the remaining 4 pups and put them under an infrared light to keep them warm away from their poor, confused mum. The spent the following weeks taking it in shifts to make sure the pups were fed every 2 hours, day and night. They would let them suckle from mum while making sure she couldn’t do any harm. Of course, this meant the poor mum went through an awful lot but this is one of the most caring and responsible hunters we have come across at the same time, many would not have made sure the puppies survived at all.
Piki is the smallest of the litter and the hunter was looking at giving him away. He’s not a good hunter, with no interest in birds at all and would rather stick around with the humans while out shooting. While this doesn’t make him the ideal dog for a Spanish hunter, it does make for a lovely family addition! So that’s where we come in to help. Sadly dogs like Piki often fall into the wrong hands if given away, hunters try to prove that they can make a success out of them and if they can’t, they can end up in worse positions.
Piki is a lovely boy. He hasn’t seen much of the world outside of his hunter’s land and has never walked on a lead so he’ll need lots of time and patience but he’s got a wonderful character and lives with other dogs. Piki has not been cat tested.
