Rio

Rio is a small to medium young dog. His passport says he’s is a Podenco, but he is most likely a mixed breed with some Podenco in his DNA somewhere! Rio is affectionate, cheerful, friendly, and gentle natured. He absolutely loves people and as soon as he sees you, he’ll happily cover you in kisses, whether he knows you or not! He is sociable, loving, and always eager to make new friends.
Rio was rescued from the pound, where he ended up after being found abandoned on the street with another dog. Sadly, he spent almost a year there without anyone noticing him. Thankfully, one of the wonderful shelters we work with took him in, giving him a much better chance of finding the loving family he deserves. Because of his long stay in the pound, Rio is currently a little overweight, but he’s already getting fitter at the shelter now that he has the chance to run and play outside regularly.
Rio is a confident dog who would fit well into most homes. He is very sociable and playful with other dogs, but he isn’t dependent on them, so he could happily live either as an only dog or with other dogs. He is also very affectionate and gentle with children and could easily live in a family with kids.
