Mara
D.O.B: 15/05/2017
Mara is currently in foster in Leighton Buzzard and looking for her forever home. She was initially adopted with her sister Senda however, the adopters cats didn’t take kindly to the girls so we needed to move them both to foster. Mara and Senda are in seperate foster homes and doing really well. Although Mara has only been in the UK for a short time, she has settled in incredibly well. She’s a confident, friendly girl who is more than happy to greet everyone she meets with hugs and kisses! Mara was a confident girl in the shelter too and was also a brilliant mum to a litter of pups!
Mara is very affectionate and loves nothing more than snuggling up on the sofa or relaxing in the garden. That said, she’s still an active, lively girl, just as you’d expect from a working Setter. Like so many of our setters, Mara proves that age really is just a number.
She is naturally clean in the house and has been great with toilet training. Mara is also good with children and enjoys being part of family life. On walks Mara is enthusiastic and full of energy, like a working setter should be! It’s early days but she is food motivated, especially for a cocktail sausage (or two!) and loves running round a secure field!
Mara is in foster as an only dog but Mara’s fosterer works with dogs and Mara has been very happy going out with them on walks! She also needs a home with people who can be around most of the day with her, and can give time into building her to being left home alone for longer. She was with cats in her first home but unfortunately introductions were not well managed and Mara did chase the cats. Mara is an extremely lovely girl, and her next home will need to be her last. So ideally we are looking for a cat free home to set her up to succeed, but will consider applications who are happy to take introductions slow and steady and are able to keep the dogs and cats apart for the foreseeable.
Please note: Although this dog is currently in UK foster, they originated from Spain, so the Spanish adoption fee applies.
